1JZ Engines for sale

The Toyota 1JZ is a 2.5-liter, inline-six engine produced from 1990 to 2007, serving as the smaller sibling to the legendary 2JZ. Renowned for its smooth power delivery, high-revving character, and robust construction, it powered the Toyota Supra, Mark II, Chaser, Cresta, Soarer, and Crown.

Specifications:

  • Configuration: DOHC, 24-valve, inline-six

  • Displacement: 2,491 cc

  • Bore x Stroke: 86 mm × 71.5 mm (undersquare, short-stroke design)

  • Fuel System: Sequential electronic fuel injection

  • Aspiration:

    • 1JZ-GE: Naturally aspirated, 160–200 hp (119–149 kW), 235–250 Nm

    • 1JZ-GTE: Twin-turbocharged (parallel sequential), 276–280 hp (206–209 kW), 363–379 Nm (Japanese “gentlemen’s agreement” limit)

  • Compression Ratio: 10.0:1 (GE); 8.5:1 (GTE)

  • Key Features: Cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder head, factory forged connecting rods (GTE)

The 1JZ-GTE features sequential twin turbochargers that provide responsive low-end torque. Its short-stroke design allows for a high 7,500 rpm redline, giving it a distinctly different character from the torque-focused 2JZ. Like its larger sibling, the 1JZ is over-engineered and capable of 500+ hp with modifications. While never officially sold in North America, it remains a beloved swap candidate and JDM icon for its durability, smoothness, and tuning potential.
